During a Sydney to Tokyo flight, an unexpected incident shocked passengers. Due to a technical error, an adult-rated film was displayed on all onboard screens, leaving passengers both surprised and uncomfortable.
Technical Glitch Leads to Inappropriate Content
The incident occurred when passengers were unable to choose their own in-flight entertainment due to a malfunction. To resolve this, the flight crew conducted a survey, asking passengers which movie they would prefer to watch. The majority selected the film “One Night in New York” (Daddio), a movie known for its adult content and explicit scenes.
Passengers’ Reaction and Social Media Outcry
The screening of the film, which included scenes of nudity and sexual content, played for nearly an hour before the crew could switch it to a more family-friendly option. Many passengers, including those with children, were highly disturbed by the content.
A passenger posted on Reddit, stating, “It was impossible to pause, lower the brightness, or turn it off.” The incident quickly gained attention on social media, with many criticizing the airline for its handling of the situation.
Airline Issues Apology
A spokesperson for the airline apologized, admitting that the film was not suitable for the entire flight. They explained that such surveys are a standard procedure when individual entertainment systems are down, but they acknowledged the inappropriate nature of the film selected for public viewing.
The airline promised to review its procedures to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
